Passion

    I've always known that in life, you should chase after the things you love. However, never before have I ever understood that statement to this magnitude. Personally, I would define passion as that feeling; that thrill you get when you are doing something that holds tremendous value to you.
  Everyone has that one thing or group of things that to them without it life would be pointless. We all have a unique purpose and a gift that when put into use can help to make this world a better place despite how big or how small it is. If you haven't found yours as yet, don't be discouraged my friend it's never too late.
   Following your dreams isn't always as glamorous as some may make it out to be. It is filled with challenges; moments when you question whether this is the path that you should take, or question your abilities and even your sanity.  Trust me because sometimes I do.
   It's not an easy task to put everything aside and just do what you love but the reward is worth it.  Think about it, even if it means putting aside the countless deadlines for five minutes every day to develop your craft and or to do what you love, you will be happier and it will pay off in the end.
  I had the opportunity to attend Carifesta XIII this year. It was Antigua and Barbuda's night for their Cultural presentation, let me just say that I was speechless.
  As I stood in the crowd, among persons from various denominations within CARICOM experiencing the artistry of this Steelpannist, I was taken somewhere out of this world! If you ask me what his name was, I honestly cannot say but what I can tell you is how he made me feel as he played. It was at that moment that I thought about the significance of Passion There was no need for microscopic lenses to magnify the level of passion that dwelled within him because it was projected into every beating heart that stood there. The point is that whenever you do something that you love, it shows and it is done at your utmost best.
 Moreover, this is something that I aspire to emulate in my daily life. I hope that you also consider chasing after your passion because that my friend is the key to living a happy and fulfilling life.

 I believe that life is a concept of growth and to grow there are a few integral factors that must come into play. In order for a plant to grow it needs adequate amounts of sunlight, carbon dioxide, water and some key minerals. Similarly, as humans, while traversing life's road there are elements that contribute towards a successful journey. Everyone is constantly fighting their own battles and inner turmoil even if they may seem to have it all together.    Sometimes as we scroll through social media we see people going off to all manner of exotic vacations and it is at this moment that we say to ourselves "Life Goals" or "They must be living the life!"     Do we have to break the bank to be happy? As a young girl growing up it was always a habit of mine to plan everything down to the smallest detail possible. As naive as it sounds that was me. I planned that when I became an adult I would have everything together and it would be just like I imagined. Well, let me just say that little Tamara was so wrong.  As children growing up, we are always encouraged by the elders around us to forgive and forget. You must always forgive others when they've done you wrong they say,  but no one ever says how difficult it is and that in your attempts to let go you should also forgive yourself. Through my experiences, I've learnt that saying I forgive you is not as easy as it sounds. It takes strength and courage to acknowledge that yes I was wronged and yes it hurts but if I am to grow and develop I choose to forgive you. What does it even mean to forgive? To me, it means to let go and as simple as it sounds it is one of the most difficult things to do.   Things aren't always perfect. As a matter of fact, they never are. We tend to make plans but sometimes life has other things in store and it's hard to see the light of day when you're surrounded by darkness. A woman is an amazing creation. Women are the backbones of society; the glues that hold the pieces in place even when things are spiralling out of control and all hope seems to be lost.  We are life's spices. A woman is a mother, the vessel through which brings forth life. She is the definition of grace as she undergoes metamorphosis wearing her stripes like a badge of honour and her bundle of joy as her prized possession. She is a homemaker; a cook, a full-time doctor, a nurse, a counsellor, a shoulder to cry on and a haven. She is selfless constantly choosing to put her family first. She is a woman.   I recently had a delightful conversation with an elderly woman and I couldn't help but notice as she recounted the events of the past years how bright-eyed and full they were. Just listening to her made me smile because she was given the gift of life and she lived. I want to live. I want to live a life of substance, one of purpose and happiness. We sometimes get so caught up with everything that is going on around us that we forget the fact that our life is a gift one whereby we're unaware of when or even how it can be taken away, and sometimes it can be all within a flash. This is something that I have to constantly remind myself of because sometimes I overthink even the smallest things.   I want to travel the world; experience various cultures, sceneries, and lifestyles. You must be tall and never short. You should have well-defined cheekbones and skin that is as flawless as can be. Us humans always strive for perfection, but does a perfect person exist?
