Cheers to 2018!

2017 was a bittersweet year; full of highs and lows. Let's focus on the great things that happened this year and use the losses as stepping stones; lessons to learn from in the new year.   Writing has always been a passion of mine and this year I took the step to create this blog. A space where I can share my views, be a source of motivation and inspiration to my readers worldwide but most of all, a platform where I can be myself and have fun doing what I love.   I was blessed to have the opportunity to travel abroad with my friends. It was an amazing experience! I love you Royalz. I also had the opportunity to explore more of my country; this I intend to do more of in the new year.  This year brought the opportunity to connect with many like-minded, driven individuals like myself. I was fortunate enough to be in a position whereby I can actively give back to my community. This experience has been such a blessing.   I rekindled a friendship that is blooming...

What being "Black" means to me.

Black is beauty... Black is powerful... Black is strength beyond measure... Black is you and I.    Even as we live in a "modern" world the topic of race is still a touchy issue. It reminds me that I can be all that I was made to be even though I might have to work twice as hard. It reminds me of the fighter spirit that the creator has placed within me, that fuels through this blood of mine.   Oh, be...

The Power of "I Am"

Things aren't always perfect. As a matter of fact, they never are. We tend to make plans but sometimes life has other things in store and it's hard to see the light of day when you're surrounded by darkness. Faith is said to be the belief in things that are to come; hoping, trusting that everything will work out for the best.    It can be difficult to make your goals a reality when everyone says that you can't or that your idea isn't worth it. It can be even more challenging when you live in a society where it is a norm to fall within a few structured lines.    I'm not always at my best but I am grateful for those moments of happiness and to those persons who are sources of joy within my life.    I recently had the opportunity to watch an interview of Motivational Speaker Lisa Nichols where she spoke of the Power of I Am. She recounted her experience of being in an abusive relationship and her diagnosis of being Clinically Depressed. Upon her dia...
